Testimonials

We have had more than 400 volunteer consultants work with CCP to serve local non-profit organizations. Each of them joined a team of 5-7 strangers to learn about consulting by doing it with an organization that serves their community.

One CCP team of volunteer consultants interviewed some past volunteer consultants to get their impressions of how this combination of learning consulting and serving the community worked for them. Responses are shown below.

What did you take away from CCP?

• It gave me a chance to apply theory to practice right away.
• I learned a tremendous amount.
• CCP gave me an excellent way to decide whether I wanted to pursue organizational development in my next career.
• It was a great learning and networking experience as well as a way to use professional skills to help the community.
• The structure of the client/consultant teams was really productive.
• I learned incredible learnings: to check out understandings, inferences, assumptions, commitments, not to script anything, and to trust myself.
• I really liked having a Senior Consultant on board with us.
• It was fascinating working in the group and team process.
• I learned a lot from the Senior Consultant and other team members- about the different types of magic they bring.
• I liked learning the steps of the consulting process.
• It was a great way to network and see experienced consultants at work.
• It allowed me to help some people I otherwise would not have gotten to know.
• I learned how to move quickly through a facilitated event and achieve results.

What were some of the challenges?

• It can be diffcult to meet team expectations if you don't live locally (in the Seattle area).
• Our client was not very clear on how to use us and that provided a challenge.
• CCP takes a lot of time and sometimes scheduling meetings with your team can be difficult.
• Working with four other people on a team takes time and can feel like it slows you down, which can be frustrating at times.
